My problem is that once I get into an author, I struggle to get into anyone else for a while, so I have to get everything they’ve done. Which is why I now have a Skaven army despite having never having any interest in Warhammer until this time last year when I bought all your Gotrek & Felix books while on a break in Haye.
(I don’t know anyone else that plays, so they’ll remain forever on my shelves, getting dusty. Though I have discovered that I really enjoy painting them, so my midlife crisis (I got them for my 40th birthday) hobby is cheaper than a sports car or a pretty excuse for a divorce… So thanks for that, too!)
So greedy me can’t wait for the next Kormack book. Or any book by you. In the mean time I have just started Illidan. I have been playing World of Warcraft since The Burning Crusade, but I have never followed the lore and I have never read any of the books. I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to follow the story, but it seems to be fine as a standalone so far.

Bought it, read it, enjoyed it. King Aemon reminds me of the first competent boss I had as a teenager, albeit with somewhat more sorcery.

Glad you enjoyed it, Jonathan. I was pleased with the way Aemon turned out. He kind of took me by surprise.
Disappointing, it was over way too quick. It was like sitting down to a 6 course meal, being utterly blown away by the appetizers, and then being told you had actually eaten a full six courses and didn’t realize it.
There was so much incredible stuff going on in there. As usual you had an adult view of the characters and their motivations, meeting the “sun king” was incredible. Finding out that his “evil” brother is actual someone who does what he does because he honestly loves his brother and wants to keep him on the throne was powerful.
